This TaoTao TBR7 Dual-sport motorcycle was not built in a day, nor was Rome. However, I, too, envision owning an empire of motorcycles.
I may have let a few followers down since I thought I could have completed my TaoTao TBR7 assembly in a day. In my last post(“TBR7 Unboxing Event!“), I only unboxed the the TBR7 motorcycle, and setup for it’s quick assembly.
I only spent a few hours unboxing it, and it looks like once you toss on the handlebars and front wheel, the TBR7’s motorcycle engine can have its first test run. A few more hours after that, get brakes set up and finish up bodywork, the first test ride.
At this point the TaoTao TBR7 Assembly was complete, and I over simplified the process. Let’s look at it further.
Tips If You Want To Assemble Your TBR7 In A Day.
Understand, there were NO TBR7 assembly instructions. So much of what I share with you is what I did to assembly my TBR7 motorcycle, without any instructions. There is an TaoTao motorcycle owner’s manual for how to take care of your bike once built, but there is no in between.
1.- Search and watch YouTube motorcycle building videos for assembly information.
Some TaoTao TBR7 assembly videos are very dated, and some are missing valuable information, so take older TBR7 assembly videos with a grain of salt.
2.- Hawk 250 and TT250’s are very similar motorcycles. So their assembly is similar too.
So look up their dual-sport assembly and repair videos and blogs. Good Chinese dual-sport motorcycle online sources: Need TBR7 help?
3.- Look up CSC Motorcycle reference material.
CSC has some great dual-sport motorcycles for sale, one being the TT250. More importantly, their website is an excellent reference for many Chinese dual-sport motorcycles.
Their TT250 is based on the Hawk 250 dual-sport motorcycle, and due to similarity between the TBR7 and Hawk 250, the TT250 assembly information is excellent for helping you do your TaoTao TBR7 assembly.
4.- Book mark everything you find on the web!!!!
This way, you can have quick links to the TaoTao TBR7 assembly informational material you might realize you need to pay further attention to when assembling the TBR7 dual-sport motorcycle.
I skipped around searching for information and forgot to book mark sites that had little tidbits of building instructions that could have helped when I reached that step.
5.- Phone a friend.
Sorry, the dated reference here(“phone a friend). But yes, have a second set of hands(and eyes), and hopefully someone who knows how to build motorcycles, or work on them. Might find out your friend has some TaoTao TBR7 assembly experience.
6.- Lift motorcycle and parts safely.
Once you cut the metal strap that holds the motorcycle box to the pallet, move the whole package to the floor with a second or more people.
Moving the box to a stable, flat surface will make it safer and easier to work around the box and unassemble it. I bought the best motorcycle lift jack I could afford from Harbor Freight.

If you have TBR7 assembly tips, or for Hawk 250, or any similar Chinese motorcycles, please comment below. These Chinese dual-sport motorcycles are being updated by the original manufacturer each year.
Also, some importers are putting their customs parts on the motorcycles. Which makes some assembly instructions vague for what model you get.

TBR7 Upgrades
Hi I’m Tom, A New Motorcycle Rider and Blog Author.
I am a new motorcycle rider(Pa Motorcycle Learner’s Permit at the end of 2020, and I received a full M-Class Pa Motorcycle License in 2021, only after passing the Pa Motorcycle Safety Course).
I bought my first motorcycle, a TaoTao TBR7 (A Chinese Dual-sport motorcycle), at the beginning of 2021 and have been doing upgrades on that motorcycle since.
I added to my motorcycle collection by buying a Boom Vader Gen 2 motorcycle in 2022, and that little Grom-Clone bike has been upgraded by me as well.
I continue to ride my Boom Vader Gen 2 motorcycle as well as my TaoTao TBR7 dual-sport bike.

Fun Fact: I’ve only been on one group ride.
